Kentucky Golf Association Honors George Gupton
The Kentucky Golf Association honors George Gupton with the J. W. Janes award. This award is given to the person who has
given both time and effort to promote amateur golf in Kentucky. Mr. Gupton received the award for his work
with the KGA, KPGA, KJPA, KHSAA, PGA, USGA and other efforts to help golf in KY. Gupton's past efforts include: work on the
committee to build the Green County Golf Club, worked with Ivan Curnutte and Eugene Tate to establish GCHS golf team,
served on the GCCC board for 12 years and served as president.
Mr. Gupton has served 4 terms on the CCC board and served as president of that body. He served 15 years on the
board with the KY Senior Golf Association and served as president of that organization, served 4 years on the KPGA-KGA
boards, 10 years on the KGA board and presently serves on the tournament committee. He was member of the board that
built Golf House KY that houses the KY Golf Hall of Fame at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club.
Mr. Gupton serves as a rules official with the KGA, PGA, KJGA, KHSAA, NAIA, the Ohio Valley Conference
and the
South Eastern Conference. He also works on the First Tee for Kids program as well as the CCC Jr. Golf program.
He also plays golf across the state with the KY Senior Golf Association, the KGA and the PGA.
Mr. Gupton states that he is very honored to receive this award, which is among the highest
recognitions in the Kentucky Golf Family.
